A Culinary Adventure

When I first saw the photos I was given to work with, I was drawn to the photo of the salad. My first thought was what an interesting composition. I stared at it for forever when it hit me what I should do with it. It's one of my favorite layouts! The client loved it.

Well Suited

One of the many perks to my job is working with photographers. I don't think I have ever had as much fun on a photo shoot as I did with this one. I went crazy running all over the store finding items I liked and that they wanted to feature and set up the shot for the opening page. The end result...magic! John Cole, the man sitting on the bench, was so pleased he was joking around about hiring me to do displays in the store. He still talks about that shoot to his ad representative.

Lucky Number 7

I started the layout on this with a picture we had used before in a previous issue, so I altered it to give it a whole new look. The ladies I work with didn't even realize it was the same picture.

Designing Woman

I'll admit it... I LOVE Project Runway! So you can imagine how excited I was when Little Rock native, Korto Momolu, appeared on the show. I was rooting for her from the beginning. When she lost I was heartbroken for her. When I found out that she was our cover girl for our February Multicultural Issue I was ecstatic! I wanted to go to the photo shoot and meet her so badly, but was unable to attend. I felt I needed to give her a great layout that featured her talent in print. (As you turn the pages of the article, each page had a letter to her name eventually spelling it out.) Apparently she felt I succeeded because she was thrilled with the end result and requested boxes of our magazine. She has also recently requested our magazine to sponsor her at New York Fashion Week. How amazing is that?! I'd love to design that layout!
